The latest beam schedule has a column for what happens if core lifting pauses. It says “divert arriving power.” To where? I maintain one of the proposed receivers. Light that has been travelling for two centuries does not read our revised forecast.
The contract writers treated the diversion route as a blank to fill in after the sale. I would have to operate that blank. Before anyone commissions a receiver, every author of that schedule should post a personal bond large enough to compensate every holding in the pointing-failure volume. I want their names and assets on the control panel, not a corporate signature that will dissolve long before the light arrives. Let them call it a detail from inside the liability zone.

Our collectors can reserve the output years in advance. The receiving design is Carina's. We cannot accept liability for every change made to a star we cannot see in real time.
I live here to negotiate under a standing mandate. New instructions still have to travel to the supplying system, and a changed beam has to travel back. That is why we ask for firm schedules. Carina cannot demand both a guaranteed distant supply and a magical instant off switch. We are not an on-call fuse box for Carina's planners. Anyone who signs a receiving design without a disposal route should be barred from asking donor systems to absorb their incompetence.

Cold Meridian asked for replacement cooling capacity for as long as the receiving yard occupies the radiator view. The Authority offered relocation machinery and a payment that ends. Our records need cooling after the payment ends too.
Seven of the eleven delegations that voted against the lease own recovery claims. Apparently that makes us hypocrites. I call it refusing to sacrifice our clients' archives so claimants can collect material and send us a thank-you note. Every time a claimant calls continuing cooling 'hypocrisy,' I want their recovery share escrowed until their own archive warms by the same amount. Perhaps then they will understand that an expiring payment cannot refrigerate a century.

The gas vault is the last step. Before a shipment is cold, somebody has to slow a plasma stream, take out its heat and sort the material. Those yards need radiator views. I wish the plans would show the warm part in type as large as the word “vault.”

wavelength · #2we ask for firm schedules
Your firm schedule is a binding liability for my receiver. I need actual permission to dispose of its energy if the hardware breaks. The route application describes a pointing failure volume across one holding, and the alternative route passes another. I want every holder on both routes, plus anyone who might inherit either holding during the beam's transit, to sign in advance. Until then, refuse the contract and let the claimant habitats argue over lost power. I am tired of donor delegates demanding certainty from the one person expected to aim their unsinkable obligation.

Then use the local torus proposal. Its fuel valve is here. Stop feeding it and you stop making new heat.
Why are we begging hundreds of other stars for power when the core supplies gravity and catalyst and a circulating gas cover can confine the reaction? Build the torus instead of congratulating yourselves on a distant dependency. We should build the torus and stop begging distant donors for permission to run our own sky. Anyone who prefers a beam they cannot switch off is a bureaucrat in love with helplessness.

Our club resumes for an hour in 11000. All the diners must wake together with their memories intact. “Equivalent computing time later” is not equivalent to the meal they arranged.
I understand why everyone wants the star's matter. I cannot put a substitute breakfast in our contract.

Future branches need the recovered material. If every archive can demand a guarantee without an endpoint, custodians can strangle extraction indefinitely while calling it care.
What duration would Cold Meridian actually sign? Until the yard closes? Until the last stored atom leaves the district? If the answer is 'forever,' say forever so the rest of us can stop pretending this is a lease negotiation and start pricing Cold Meridian's appetite for control.

And then the material already in transit keeps arriving, and the torus's existing hot stores still need handling. The torus faction chants 'local' as though heat checks passports. Let them personally inventory every hot store and incoming shipment before they offer enthusiasm as a disposal plan.

Knot Nine's dust sheets have scientific value. Their custodians also offered a paid route around them. Both statements appear in the notice now.
Call that a conflict of interest. Fine. It does not put permission for the original route in the Authority's hands.

banyan · #8What duration would Cold Meridian actually sign?
For the duration of the additional cooling load. Measure it. Fund it. If the yard closes and our old radiator view comes back, the obligation ends.
The proposed contract pays once and expects us to keep our clients safe every day after. Anyone insisting those are equivalent is volunteering to finance the difference personally. If this simple duration sounds like an unlimited veto to banyan, banyan has either not read the meter proposal or plans to profit from letting other people's records cook.

We could put that in an operating meter. The archive's loss would track the radiator view and the yard's heat. It might cost more than the current offer. That is what a meter is for.
I want a site I can work at, rather than another diagram with nowhere to send the first hot shipment.
stopvalveReceiver engineer
A meter might settle the archive argument. It does nothing for my receiver until somebody signs a route for the beam that keeps arriving after lifting stops. A source can keep emitting on the old schedule while we're discussing the new one.
My receiver's emergency procedure cannot be “ask the source to switch off.” I want a moratorium on every new beam order until a signed diversion route and personal liability bonds exist for the whole travel time. Yes, that strands buyers who need the power; they can petition the people who sold it without a place to send it. If the Authority insists on an exception, put its headquarters in the pointing-failure volume and have its officers sign the first bonds.
banyanRecovery claimant
I will pay for a measured cooling burden. I will pay for a real diversion route. I will not pay for an unlimited veto disguised as either one.
Put a number and an endpoint on the route or admit the other side wants a perpetual veto disguised as engineering. If the archive custodians cannot name a route endpoint, claimants should route around their holdings and send them the bill.
